Essential breastfeeding supplies: How I organized my nighttime nursing station

If you choose to breastfeed, you will be spending many, many hours of the day and night doing so. Why not make it comfortable and convenient? Today, I'm so excited to share with you how I organized the corner of my bedroom to make it a comfy, convenient nursing station, and which supplies I always keep on hand to make nighttime
feedings as easy as possible.

Let's start with the big picture.

Here is what my bedroom looks like right now:
A nighttime nursing station in the corner of the bedroom. Essential breastfeeding supply basket and organization
When we found out we were expecting our second baby, I knew I wanted to add a recliner to our bedroom for nighttime feedings. I picked a spot for it a few feet away from my side of the bed, and started turning that corner of the room into a fully stocked nursing station. (Note: my list of breastfeeding supplies contains affiliate product links. Read my full disclosure statement here.)

I decided to take pictures of everything that I keep in my nursing station for you guys, so you can easily see what I included when I organized this cozy little corner. And since I've been successfully nursing Kate here every night for the past month, I think it's safe to say that I didn't forget anything too important. :)
All the breastfeeding supplies that are essential for organizing a convenient nighttime nursing station
Here's the breakdown:
All the breastfeeding supplies that are essential for organizing a convenient nighttime nursing station- a great list
  1. Nursing stool: This stool can be adjusted to three different heights/angles, and it really puts your legs in the perfect position to support your baby. I LOVE it.
  2. A blanket or robe for you, if you're like me and get a little chilly at night.
  3. A throw pillow to support your baby during feedings.
  4. Boppy nursing pillow: Some people find this more comfortable than a normal pillow. I usually keep this down in my living room for daytime feedings, and just use the throw pillow at night since the arms of the recliner keep my arms pretty propped up anyway.
  5. Tissues
  6. A touch-activated light: This is probably my favorite thing on this list. I don't always want to turn on the lamp which basically lights up the entire room, so I just use this little light to see what I'm doing. It runs on batteries, and it sits flat so you can put it anywhere. I also keep one in Kate's nursery for quick diaper changes.
  7. Lotion, Chapstick and Advil
  8. Snacks: Because even though you're not pregnant anymore, you're still eating for two!
  9. Water bottle: Make it a big one. Or get two. Trust me. You'll be thirsty.
  10. Entertainment: Take advantage of these quiet hours and do something that you find relaxing and can look forward to. Read a book or a magazine, start watching a new TV series, or check out my feed on Instagram. (We can bond over being up in the middle of the night together!)
  11. Nursing tank top
  12. Heat pad
  13. Ice pack: Keep these handy if you're still sore from, oh I don't know, giving birth to a human being! :)
  14. Blanket, burp cloth and pacifier for baby
  15. Reusable nursing pads: These come in two different styles for nighttime and daytime.
  16. Lanolin: For sore nipples
  17. Soothies: These are great, but before you buy any, ask a nurse at the hospital if they have some they could give you. I actually didn't have to buy any Lanolin or Soothies this time around because I stocked up during my hospital stay.
  18. Disposable nursing pads: I bought a box of these for the first week or two so I wouldn't have an emergency situation if I couldn't do laundry and wash the reusable ones. Plus, they're just handy to stick in your purse, the diaper bag, your pumping bag, etc.
Breastfeeding essential supplies- a basket to keep nearby during nighttime nursing sessions
Find a basket big enough to fit everything in, put it within easy reach of your chair, and you'll be good to go!

I also use my nightstand for a little extra storage.
