Once we decided on a teddy bear theme, it didn't take me long to start envisioning invitation ideas. I never buy invitations because I have an invitation-making method that makes it sooo easy to DIY. Basically, I choose 2 types of paper to layer, print the details on the top sheet, and decorate however I want. It's really simple, but they always turn out looking great!
This time, I decided to walk you through my process in a little more detail. Trust me, you can do this with ANY color, ANY theme, and for ANY party. Once you're bitten by the invitation bug, you'll never want to buy them again. :)
First step: Visit Michaels, and buy
Purple patterned scrapbook paper, paper cutter, light colored paper, printer, double sided tape, hole puncher, purple ribbon, brown cardstock, foam adhesive circles, glitter flower stickers, 5x7 white envelopes, washi tape
Here's how to do it:
1. Cut purple patterned scrapbook paper into 5" x 7" rectangles. This will be the bottom of your invitations.
2. Open a new word document and change the paper size to 4 1/2 " x 6". Type any information that you want to include, and print onto the lighter colored paper. (I used grey patterned paper.)
3. Cut your printed invitations down to 4 1/2 " to 6", and attach to the purple paper using double sided tape.
4. Punch two holes at the top of each invitation. Tie a bow with a purple ribbon.
5. Print or draw teddy bear faces on brown card stock. Cut out and attach to invitations with foam adhesive circles.
7. Attach a glitter flower sticker behind one of the teddy bear's ears.
8. Run one strip of washi tape along the flap of a 5x7 white envelope. Add your invitations, address, stamp, and send!
